CBAR- Newsflash - Mountain Burglaries

Dear Valued CBAR Client

As previously corresponded, CBAR would again like to make those clients that live along the Table Mountain National Park aware of the increase in house robberies specifically along the fence line and the area in Vredehoek around Frank Avenue, Highlands Avenue and Rocklands Avenue.

CBAR has been a part of a collective of service providers and Law Enforcement agencies including S.A.P.S., Law Enforcement, SAN Parks and private individuals who have been actively involved in ending this crime spree.

As we are not allowed to divulge sensitive information regarding specific gangs that are operating due to current ongoing investigations, we can confirm that all involved have worked tirelessly and have had recent successes.

PLEASE REMEMBER:

  • Ensure that your alarm system is fully functional and armed, especially at night. Contact our monitoring centre to test your panic buttons.
  • The installation of good quality spot lights will help prevent any potential element of surprise from criminals that may be using the dark as cover before an intrusion.  These may be switched left on all night, or at least after an alarm activation so as to give a good line of sight around the property.
  • Check your fence for any signs of tampering and that electric fences are connected to your alarm to detect same.
  • Be aware that most home robberies involve the criminals gaining access whilst home owners have been moving around the outside of their homes after dark, and then taken by surprise.
  • Do not resist if you find yourself in this compromised position.
  • The usual items such as laptops, cellular phones, jewellery and electronics are being targeted.
  • DO NOT confirm your password with our monitoring centre if you’re alarm activates, unless you are 100% certain that there is no security breach.
  • Report any suspicious activity such as vehicles with occupants taking cell phone pictures of your property or persons that appear suspicious.

DO NOT investigate yourself, but instead request a CBAR vehicle to do so.

  • A number of clients have already installed CCTV systems with analytic monitoring. We are able to be alerted to movement after dark and in the early morning hours and have a fast response to these alerts from offsite monitoring. Kindly advise if you would like to have a high-tech CCTV solution presented to you.

Our staff are fully aware of the current situation in the abovementioned areas and will prioritise any call for assistance in the event of an emergency. Make sure that you have our 24-hour emergency number saved on your phone. 0860 15 15 15

Wishing you a safe and enjoyable festive season.
